P-Funk 1979

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Kevin began his musical life when at the age of five he encountered rock-and-roll on the Ed Sullivan show. From that day on, he has steadily pursued and developed his musical taste, which continues today.

At the age of 13, he started playing the guitar at night clubs performing music from Latin, to Funk, to Rock-and-roll. His primary guitar influences were Jimi Hendrix, Alvin Lee, Santana, Mark Farner, John McLaughlin, Jimmy Nolen, Mike Hampton, Eddie Hazel and the list goes on.

At 17, Kevin recorded with Khalid Yasin (Larry Young), a noted jazz organist. Through friends and their connections, he was lucky enough to land a spot as guitarist with P-Funk at the age of 21.

Since then, he has recorded or played with Bootsy, Don Blackman, Bo Diddley, Dave Grusin, Bernard Wright, Victor Bailey, Marcus Miller, Rodney "Skeet" Curtis, Maceo Parker, Foley, Kenny Garrett, Dave Weckl, Chester Thompson (Genesis), Stanton Moore, and the list continues.

One thing that Kevin has learned over the years, is to keep an open mind. Because of this, you might catch him listening to or playing Country, Bluegrass, Jazz, World Beat, Reggae, Metal, Industrial, Classical, Jam or pretty much anything.

Kevin says, "It is never good to pigeon hole yourself, because it limits your possibilities in life."
